Costs of Veterinary Care

Discussing the cost of veterinary care is a delicate subject at the best of times, but no time seems to be worse than when you are faced with an unexpected emergency or illness.  At Glendale we strive to provide your pet with the best possible care all the while being transparent regarding the associated costs involved.  We know that these times can be extremely stressful for your pet and your family and we appreciate your trust in us through the difficult situations. It is important to know the costs ahead of time.  It is a high value of ours to never surprise people with their bills.

We can’t comment on how other clinics set their fees because each clinic sets up their fee schedule differently. However we are always happy to explain ours. Our fees are based on a guideline set out by the Ontario Veterinary Medical Association in conjunction with the Canadian Veterinary Medical Association. They perform extensive research as to what fees are considered to be fair and reasonable and provide veterinarians with a guideline of what should be charged by a “veterinarian with average professional skill, judgement and dexterity rendering services under normal conditions”. Our fees are based on our expenses, which are related to the level of service we provide and our medical standards that we are committed to. We invest more than average on making sure you and your pet gets the highest level of care and service.

We try to make our fees straight forward and fair. We don’t play games like reducing the services that we know people shop for and raise them on ones they don’t.  We can promise you though that we are committed to what is in your pet’s best interest and we will NEVER make a recommendation that she doesn’t need. Please be aware that it is difficult to compare prices from clinic to clinic because one clinic may include something in their fees, others may bill separately for them.

All we at Glendale can do is to commit to you that:

We will never make a recommendation for anything that is not necessary for your pet’s health.

We do everything we can to make sure you are never surprised by a bill.

We will explain the logic behind our recommendation and why it is important. If we don’t offer that information please ask.
